High-Fidelity COOKING APP PROTOTYPE

Ux REsearch & Design Project

This project was undertaken with a team in University of Washington’s Professional Technical Writing program. To view the interactive app prototype in Figma, please click here.

Using our combined experience in UX and instructional design, we delivered a high-fidelity prototype of a mobile app focused on cooking and online grocery shopping. As the team’s expert in UX design and visual production, I used Figma to wireframe the app’s design and created the white papers outlining the project summary and deliverables.

Key takeaways:

Through our research, we found that users find many cooking-focused apps and websites to be clogged with information and difficult to use across cultures. Therefore, we sought to be as user-centric as possible and consider localization.

  • All recipes begin with essential cooking information and do not include a blog post or background information

  • Recipes can be toggled between metric and imperial measuring systems

  • Rather than the traditional “Jump to Recipe” option, we included tabs at the top of each recipe for easy user access

Overall, our team:

  • Leveraged principles of UX design, instructional design and accessibility to create the optimal user experience.

  • Conducted UX research through interviews to identify our target audience and their needs

  • Analyzed research and created three personas to inform the app’s end-design

  • Designed 35 high-fidelity wireframes and various user flows in Figma

    • Frames included: user onboarding, search and filter features, in-depth recipe instructions, settings and profile, and cart and checkout
