WRITER, ADVENTURER, nutella ENTHUSIAST

Wild places, the outdoors, quirky adventures: these are the topics that captivate me. As a dreamer and a do-er, I relish in experiencing life hands-on and in digging a little deeper—especially in unexpected places. With my writing, I hope to encourage others to find their own version of adventure, too.

But let’s take it back a bit. Or a lot a bit.

Travel was not part of my childhood experience. Instead, it was something I grew to love on my own. Growing up, my forays with exotic locales were limited to The Jungle Cruise at Disneyland and bike rides around my neighborhood. But the National Geographic magazines on our coffee table convinced me that the world was larger than this. There were mountains to climb, cities to waltz through and cultures so unlike my own that I could barely comprehend their existence.

It wasn’t until adulthood that the spark to see the world turned into a full-on bonfire. If I had to pinpoint it, I’d say it occurred some time between accepting that I would never master the art of sitting still and realizing that I have a hard time saying no to my curious inclinations. (A dangerous combination, I may add).

With each trip, I discovered that the more I untethered myself from the comforts of home, the more comfortable I felt. My sense of self wasn’t—and still isn’t—found behind a desk. It was hiding along Spain’s hiking trails and in bowls of pumpkin soup in Peru; it waddled beside penguins in Antarctica, stood next to miniature donkeys on a remote Colorado farm and drove past Slovenian castles in the dead of winter. Today, I recognize that travel is a privilege and I seek to tread lightly but boldly.

Physically, I am based in Seattle. Mentally, I am everywhere else.

MOORE MISADVENTURES

a Travel blog for the adventurous

Travel is for everyone. Through comprehensive guides and thoughtful stories Moore Misadventures offers a way to do it. Why? Because you—yes, you, the hard worker with limited vacation, or you—the first-time hiker, or you way in the back—the one that hasn’t left the country before, you, too, can explore distant places and have weird misadventures.

Outdoor adventure and lesser-known destinations are my speciality.By sharing travel planning tools and stories, I hope to inspire you to push past your perceived limits and to venture to places you never thought you could and to try things you never considered possible. If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll even persuade a chuckle from you along the way.

My goal is to be helpful and entertaining. Maybe you are planning to travel to a place I write about, or perhaps you want to vicariously live through my words and photos. Either way, I have you covered and welcome you. You can expect guides, stories and plenty of parenthesis (I can’t help myself) along the way.
